Not to be for Emily, 6-4 3-6 6-7(4)

Harriet marches on alone.

I though she was going to win that...

Oh that's agonising. Poor Em, two hard fought losses in a row and that would have pushed her up about 40 ranking places.

Sad for her

Well done to Harriet but would have loved Em to have got the win. Yes, sad indeed.

Looks like Em feels she was on the receiving end of some skulduggery today.

Or alternatively bad loser, sour grapes etc.

If you're referring to twitter, I was under the impression that it was a more general rant at the ITF and tournaments, rather than just today. In particular, non-payment of prize money whilst collection of fines continues

always amazes me how Emily can afford to jet round the world playing tennis because her earnings from tennis would barely cover the air fares and accommodation, She must have very rich parents.

She doesn't and frequently works as she goes, coaching in various ways for a start, and living as frugally as she can. How much longer she can keep it up is certainly a good question, and no doubt behind some of her frustration at the barely scraping a living for so long but not being done any favours by the ITF.

Interesting the questioning of the value of the transition tour, but I agree with her that changes are undoubtedly needed one way and another for all the reasons that she raises.

Thanks Michael for that info. I had certainly heard that she did quite a bit of coaching during such as training blocks. She's probably got the nous and good contacts to find some decently renumerative work. It's finding a way.

She clearly loves the life ( if likes a moan at times ) though certainly doesn't appear to live lavishly and maybe worth at times not jumping to conclusions.

Her travelling tales can be interesting and she certainly doesn't jet around by the quickest available means even if travel she certainly does.
