Week 19 - ITF ($60K) - Fukuoka, Japan - Hard

Good comeback from Katie B - I was sure she was going to lose when I left for work this morning.

Just to note, all today's matches were played indoors due to rain.

Not sure if it's mentioned that Gabi and Katy D lost their dubs

It has,
wink but no harm in mentioning again.

Anyway, they get a LL spot in the MD, but get the tough match against last week's winner/finalist combo. . Laura + play the qualifiers that defeated Katy and Gabi.

Sorry, RedS, missed it :(

But we all love LL spots so good luck to them.

Naomi+ currently 4-3 up too.

Ms. Boulter is match tough this year - generally good guts and fight. Getting one more result per week even when not playing her best; I'm not convinced she's been in peak form much this year, but has been working hard to still find ways to get the job done. Good signs.

Good luck to the Brit fest tonight - id Love to stay up overnight but just dont think I can. As a general Laura supporter I hope she will win (this is nothing against Katy, just a personal preference) and stop herself freefalling down the rankings but I guess we will find out in the morning.

Yeah, unlike today when Katie was finishing her match around 8.30ish, Naomi, Gabi, Laura/Katy, Tara should all have finished their matches before 8am so for me it will just be a case of checking the result when I wake up. Even Harriet in China and Maia in Korea's should all be done and dusted, may catch the closing stages of Barnett's match, but if i'm being honest, I'm probably least bothered about that one.

Hopefully wake up to a string of good results. I think I would also like to see Laura edge that one, but I suspect it will be pretty close.

Gabi's match is very close; no breaks, Gabi behind on points and BP chances - not made any yet to Lykina's 3, 5-4*

Katy v. Laura similarly tight; 1 break each, 1 point between them; Laura 5-4* Katy

Disappointment for Gabi, who has yet to make a dent on a level up from her $25K domination, 7-6(3) 1-6 2-6
Despite her great and admirable results, she also still has yet to regularly beat players at a ranking equivalent to those of her GB peers that have fewer titles.

Naomi begins strongly, 4-1*
