The impact of that result will be felt over time (if at all)

Immediately, it may be the only win we have around Asia this morning, as inital skirmishes elsewhere are going against us.
Katy has begun, 0-1*

Awful looking serving stats from Naomi. So infuriatingly inconsistent. A weapon to challenge top 50 players, a liability ( or at least not compensating for the rest of her game as it more consistently should ) to lose to many others. Depends what day it is.

But well done to Katie B. As said recently she is proving a good match player. Seems to have a good ability to eke out matches.

How much to actually take from beating Naomi on a service off day or any great significance I am not sure that much.

Great result there for Katie B, even if Naomi was having a serving off day. Imagine it's not the first match up Naomi is going to have with the new gen. And yes Heather, they are coming for you next.

I think Katy D can count herself lucky to get to the QF to face Ksenia and Gabi unlucky to get her first round this week. Such are the differences 9 pts are made on, given Ksenia seems to be having an inspired week, perhaps fuelled by reaching the doubles final last week with EWS.

Now for Katie B to get to the singles F and Tara the doubles F tomorrow, in the latter case creating the 2nd GB match up this week vs Naomi, though revived gen rather than new gen in this case...

Yes. I had Katie B pegged to win. Although had Laura+ pegged to win the doubles too which didn't work out.
But Naomi is certainly up and down - and playing as number one seed in a lower event than you're used to is often not easy - added pressure and all that. And then when you add that it's against a young pretender too.
But great to see Katie still going well. The grass court season should be fun.
