Given Djokovic's recent form, you would have to say that this is Kyle's best chance yet of a victory. Still starts as underdog though in my book.

Couldn't agree with you more there, Bob, on all counts.  Have my fingers firmly crossed & the prayer mat out!  wink

Good highlights package of Kyle's match here

Just so wish I was there. As you can see there is really good viewing on the outside courts. If you ever feel like going to an overseas tournament, I would really recommend Madrid. It is a great fan experience and very reasonably priced.

Bob thanks do you have to book in advance (RG) or are tickets available on the day?

Book in advance for RG - Bob had a mare last time and the Skupski bailed him out...

I will make note of this for next yr. Has anyone been to Rome and knows what that is like?

Depends what part of the week.  If you just want a ground pass in the early part of the week (which is my preferred choice), you can buy at the ticket office on the day.  If you want centre court tickets it is advisable to book in advance although in the first part of the week, you can normally buy on the day.  Obviously if you want to watch the final, definitely book in advance.

Tickets can be purchased online here.

We should do a group trip to Madrid next year and all meet up. I used to organise a trip for my tennis club here in Spain and there is a discount for larger groups. If memory serves, it was 10% but the group had to be a minimum of 20 people. Doubt we will get that many from here though.

With tickets so cheap anyway, it doesn't make much difference. If you go over the bank holiday weekend, when you will see Men's qualies and R1, and Women's qualies, R1 and some R2, the total price for a Ground pass for Sat/Sun/Mon is just 31 euros in total this year. This will gain you entry to all the courts except Manolo Santana. (i.e. including Stadium courts 2 & 3). Court 3 is my personal favourite.

If you want to stay for the Tuesday as well, that is an extra 17 euros but you won't have access to Court 2 on that day without paying extra (19 euros).

As for hotels, there are plenty in the area. My usual stay is in this one.

It is not the cheapest by any means but is really good quality and walking distance (about 20 mins) from the stadium.

Watched the first set. Kyle played very aggressive and very solid! Novak looked rusty and no where near his best, but some of which Kyle has to take credit for for not letting him
