For the rest of the first set the momentum has only been in one direction. Nell is going to have to dig in now, if she wants a sniff of that third counter 2-6
Match of the day this, given the context, and Emilie's current lack of any kind of national ranking, even with 6 WTA points in the bag, and how long it has been since we've had a new woman player enter the rankings. Holding thumbs and everything else. Promising start, but it's a way to go yet. 5-1*
Well, it's a big set coming up for Emilie now, that substantial leap up onto the bottom of the women's ladder... and she has not started it well, immediately conceding 3 BPs and a break, after conceding no BPs at all in the first set...
This set is running much more nip and tuck, and I imagine the nerves are much greater for Emilie here. However she has managed to claw the break back, denying her opponent a GP in the process, and since then has clung onto serve too. Just a break apiece so far in the 2nd set 6-1 4-3*
This set was never going to be easy, but Emilie holds serve following a deuce, and the set will go to a TB at the least. Still just the break apiece in the set. 6-1 6-5*
