Good to see Jay seal the win 3-6 6-3 6-2. His opponent got into good positions often but Jay's chasing kept the ball in play and often making him play just one more shot brought the error. He's looking good on clay. Would be lovely if he could just continue his progression by going a little deeper, but these are competitive tournaments and Jay is regularly winning a round or two in them. Well done lad!
Some of Jay's defensive shot making in those last few games was superb. He retrieved and won rallies from absolutely nowhere - on two occasions lobs from deep behind the baseline disappeared off my screen for a while, then eventually reappeared dropping into play! Some of his net play work was also excellent, as well as his ability to transition from back to front of the court. His opponent may only be WR373, but for the few games I watched, Jay's performance was really impressive in that final set. Plenty of stamina too, which bodes well.
Ps I hadn't realised Jay is ahead of cam in the Race in the 130's versus 140's, well done to him to be that high in the season. Let's hope he can raise his ranking as well

His ranking is nudging upwards Jon. His gain today is +4 (7-3), and would take him up to about 223 next week, 4 up on this week's 227. One more win however will take him above 219 and into CH territory, for the first time this year

Jay's race points are boosted quite a lot by his November Bangalore Challenger RU 60 points counting but it's still of course very good.
Latest live race :
Jay #139 on 162 points ( from the current maximum of 9 counters while 9 mandatories remain to be played, 177 from 12 )
Cam #147 on 152 points ( from 8 counters )

This is like a WTA match, the players do not celebrate when they break serve, as they know there is a 50% chance they will not hold their next service game, awful standard.
