Interesting option for the Davis cup, congratulations guys

Its simple same as Fed Cup. Play your best Tennis players. So its Kyle, Cam, Andy and Dan when fit on the mens side, and Jo, Heather, Gabi and Katie or Laura on the womens side.

Great win for Cam and Kyle and further proves the point if all singles players played doubles theyd sweep up the trophies.

Also good they both win an ATP event and Naomi won a WTA a few weeks back. It may be their best respective chances in their careers, so they might be able to add to this by playing more Doubles in the future.

The caveat here is that its the best players that play it, also scrap the MTB and no advantage stuff as well.

Amen to that.

I meant the no no advantage stuff, I take it everyone knows what I mean. Basically keep the scoring to as it is in singles.

Kyle has now got his lack of an ATP tour win off his back! So now his most impressive wins as both a junior and senior players are in doubles. A great win for them both, it would be nice to see them play more, with Andy potentially not a long term DC option and even if available should be used appropriately, gives other doubles options with Jamie.

All very well and good them making hay in the inconsequential half of this event, the fact remains that they both had a foreign object lodged in their oesophagus in the competition that mattered.

Don't get me wrong, great news they've won this, but more because it proves their ability. The title in itself clearly is beyond meaningless.

How can being a champion be meaningless particularly if you have never won a championship on tour before. A very good outcome after a losses in the singles but a very positive experience on clay that hopefully will allow Cam and Kyle a day or two of head space as they get back to focusing on singles. Its a tough business and its essential to enjoy and celebrate the ups.

Our second s of the week & a maiden ATP 250 title for Kyle & Cam!  biggrin (even if it is only in the doubles)

Final:  Kyle Edmund & Cameron Norrie UNR (0+614) defeated Wesley Koolhof & Artem Sitak (NED/NZL) CR 115 (60+55) by 4 & 2  ban-woohoo.gif

Just checked Kyle's & Cam's rankings:  career highs of 252 & 204 respectively.  smile

I believe Hewitt is playing with young up and coming De Minaur.

He tweeted that he hopes to make a few more appearances this year as well.

He'll probably get a Queen's wild card ahead of our dubs guys.

I think though a Hewitt/Nick K partnership is a draw at any event, partic in London with so many Aussies, so it is hard to argue against it, commercially at least
