First serve % ended at 35% (6/17) for the final set. 5/17 points on serve, 2/14 on return.
Given he played it out with Madrid to come next week I wouldn't think any particularly serious injury.
However, while Kyle can go a bit missing in some matches that's some turnaround from set 2 to set 3. Clearly two players on court so maybe real inconsistency from both. Anyway
Kyle would have a greater chance of points here in a weaker field than at Madrid so that theory doesnt go for me Indiana. Injury more likely or maybe its just another sign that he isnt at a level that some think he is with his ranking still overinflated in my opinion.
Contrast with Cam who was playing a tougher opponent and was very unlucky to go out last round.

feels like kyle bottled it. He's in Madrid draw. No injury and certainly no points tactics, he's not in a position to do that

Tsitispas knocked out RCB in 3.
And? RCB an improving player, Sousa a Challenger player mainly. The Greek is going to be top 20 sooner rather than later so not much surprise there.
I see that Joao Sousa has gone on to take out the man of the moment, beating Tsitsipas in a 3rd set breaker.
Home crowd behind him helping no doubt. Tsitipas has played a lot of matches recently so its probably a bigger match for Sousa than him and long term the young Greek has a better future ahead of him. No matter how you dress it up Kyles loss was disappointing.

Trust me Jaggy, I am disappointed EVERY time Kyle loses a match but it is true that yesterday was particularly disappointing given his momentum going into the deciding set. The disappointment is even greater now when you look at how the other matches have turned out. A SF against a tiring TsiTsipas could have been followed by a final against Frances Tiafoe who has just taken out our old friend Busta.
I was interested by your comment on Carballes Baena when you described him as an "improving" player. He is a year older than Kyle and lower ranked so you could easily apply the same terminology to Kyle, who I accept is far from the finished article as yet.
Perhaps Kyle should really upset you and become a doubles specialist LOL. He and Cam are a set up in their SF, which could ruin my plans of traveling to Madrid to watch Kyle play live.
Kyle & Cam partially atone (though no doubt not at all in Jaggy's eyes) for their respective failures in the singles, Kyle acquiring a ranking in the process:
SF: Kyle Edmund & Cameron Norrie UNR (0+614) defeated Leonardo Mayer & João Sousa (ARG/POR) CR 308 (98+210) by 6-2 7-6(4)
*****
Final: Wesley Koolhof & Artem Sitak (NED/NZL) CR 115 (60+55) vs Kyle Edmund & Cameron Norrie UNR (0+614)
