Naomi's opponent proves as useful as predicted then.
Pretty good round on balance, no energy wasted in the respective progressions. The Dart/Boulter match in particular, had potential to turn into an attritional marathon to the detriment of onward progress for either in the week.
Even in defeat, would have liked to see Ms. Robson make it much closer, but maybe Jang was particularly good today.

Laura was a break down in the 2nd set, got it back and then went a break down again. With her opponent serving for the match she had a break point, saved a couple of match points before finally going out, so she was fighting but just couldn't quite make it.

Re Naomi, I've not seen the full French Open qualifying list, but tennisforum post with suitably ranked players not on the list includes "#128 Broady".

 Yes interesting that as expectI Naomi but both Gabi and Katie are listed there.

Yes the full qualifying list is now on tennisforum.

Last qualifying entry on list (#88) is WR 196 Sesil Karatantcheva.

So it needs a fair drop out from that initial list to get to our first possible alt, Harriet at WR 215. A batch of MD WCs coming from these would of course help. Haven't done a French player count but surely they'll give Parmentier one for starters. Not sure how eccentric they might be with lower ranked players for MD WCs.

In the all Brit affair, nothing to separate them. 5-5. Harriet breaks and is serving for the 1st set.

Gabi save 2 SPs to bring it to deuce but Harriet wins the next 2 points to win the 1st set 7-5. On points Harriet edges it 38-37.

Into the 2nd. Gabi wins the 1st game comfortably 40-15

Harriet replies with a run of 7 straight points to take it 40-0 on Gabi's serve. Gabi saves all 3 BPs. Duece. Harriet takes the next, another BP. This time she converts *2-1.

But she can't hold serve and Gabi immediately gets the break back.

Harriet holds serve 4-2*.

Gabi fights back *15-30. Harriet DFs to give Gabi 3 BPs. An ace saves 1 BP, but Gabi converts the next to recover a break. Harriet 5-3*.

Gabi DFs to give Harriet MP. Saves it. Deuce. They trade points as Gabi saves 4 MPs. But Harriet gets advantage agan for a 5th MP. This time she converts.
