RE: Week 18 - Uganda F1 - Kampala ($15,000) (clay)

Importantly he should now be given an SE into next week's Main draw - although I note he has not even got into the qualifying lists for next week.  Do the SE rules still apply to people too low for the qualifying list?

Not if the ITF's Rules for 2016 are anything to go by.  cry  Can't find any mention of SEs in the 2018 version!  confuse

The Serbian guy seems to be having a pretty lousy year so far. Fingers crossed but this would seem a lovely chance of a final - bet George is Curious to know what an ITF final feels like....,

Although still showing as an alternative the main draw only has 18, so once the rest are added he would comfortably be in qualifying anyway so the SE should apply. Only applying logic here not actual facts incidentally.

Not sure if he's still in school?
Or if he's in Uganda because of family connections?
Or needs to get back to start preparing for events here?
As above, no facts, just pondering that he may well have only planned one event.

He is also down for the week after as well, so 3 weeks in Uganda with weak fields should see him into the top 1000 youd think.

He's on the list of alternates for next week.

Super stuff from George. If you are going to get your first ever ranking point, you may as well do it in style and get your second .... and third .... and fourth .... etc. at the same event.

Hoping he can turn this into 10 (or more).

As far as I can see, George is only the third 2001 (or later) born male to reach a futures semifinal after Chun Hsin Tseng and Nicolas Alvarez Varona, although Sergey Fomin did win a main draw match at a challenger tournament, which might be more impressive.

George takes the match 6-4, 6-4.

They didn't have to play for too long this morning, George should still have plenty of gas left for the final.  Irrespective of the result, he'll have loads of confidence going into next week.
