Week 18 - Challenger (€85,000) - Glasgow Trophy, Glasgow, Great Britain (indoor hard)

After a shaky start, Lloyd is playing very well now. Will serve for the first set at *5-3.

Good stuff

I read in another thread that Lloyd had announced on twitter that he was getting back to the levels he was at when he was climbing the rankings. Hopefully this indicates that my rather cynical reply then was misplaced and that there will be more to come.

A high of 167 7 years ago suggests Olaso is a journyman pro. Lets hope Lloyd can go further.

Wow. Had to go out with the score at 2-2. Lloyd must have turned on the style after that. Great win.

That may be so, but he & Gerard Granollers (CR 1461, Olaso's contribution to that figure being 1241) have just despatched the second seeds, their compatriots, Ortega & Vilella (CR 618), by 5 & 3.

Dan kicks off with a super hold of serve, the magic is still there!

Dan breaks and holds to go 3-0 up.  He is rock solid.  If he maintains this level he'll be done and dusted in under an hour.

Three games in now and it's official. As Steve Mc says, Dan has still got it. We have seen the whole repertoire already. The volleys, the backhand slice, the big backhand DTL topspin, the half volley dropshot.

Dan leads 3-0*

ITF Plodder is the accepted term, heres hoping so. I also think Lloyds ship has sailed and he is also in this band. Time will tell, good start though.

Two DFs and missed slice in that service game, Dan saves a BP and wins the game.  4-1
