Good effort from evo considering only been hitting again since late Feb

means unlike to be playing his inaugural A1 Pharmaceuticals match but after meeting him recently and talking for several hours i was convinced that the former GB No2 has learnt a hard lesson and will get back into the top 100 very soon .

Definitely lambs to the slaughter.  I hope those defeats don't do too much damage to the lads' confidence.

Evo takes a massive step towards five precious ranking points & a foot back on the ladder:

QR1:  (qWC) Dan Evans UNR defeated (q3) Ed Corrie WR 427 by 6-3 7-6(6)
QR1:  (q5) Sam Barry (IRL) WR 488 defeated Isaac Stoute WR 1913 by 3 & 3

*****

FQR:  (qWC) Dan Evans UNR vs (q5) Sam Barry (IRL) WR 488

So pleased for Dan, but sad it was at the expense of Ed.

I wish.  In a much warmer climate right now. Still in Spain at the moment.  Back to Brazil in a couple of weeks, hopefully after a couple of days at the Madrid Masters.

Thirded!   I've said this before, but when Dan is at the top of his game, there is no player I'd rather watch.  The point construction is just beautiful.

Where are you getting the live scores from?  They don't seem to be on the ATP's protennis live app.

Bit late to mention it now, but you probably needed just to scroll down (on the left) for the tournament to appear (having selected 'Challengers' from menu).

Excellent - well done Dan and to ed, he looks like he fought well.

If anyone was there id be interested in what the support was like at the venue, was there a crowd and who did they support? And any evidence of Lta types and coaches/players supporting Dan?

Pity it had to be Ed but congrats to Dan on winning his first match back.

As has been pointed out already, a win against Sam Barry will get Dan back in the rankings. That in itself will be a really positive step forwards.

Stu Fraser was there.

I will post the link of someone on Twitter who is there although I guess he might be a poster on here.

I think the crowd this week will pretty much depend on Dan's progress. Hope he reaches the MD and gains those first precious points... But just really pleased to see him competing and being competitive again smile

Surprised nobody has commented on the biggest mystery of this event: why has glasspool been given MD wildcard. His form has been so poor for 2 years now. Should have gone to Evo or Finn.
