Week 18 - Challenger (€85,000) - Glasgow Trophy, Glasgow, Great Britain (indoor hard)

Lloyd started well but Olaso took control well. Oh well.

So we are down to James Ward and Aiden McHugh left in it. Aiden up next

Aiden 0-3 down already, although Guez has saved 5 break points. Looking like just James Ward for me to watch tomorrow then as far as British involvement looks.

Please also note James Ward has used 2 x MDWC this year. If he gets another at Loughborough, he will not be able to use anymore this year other than in a GS.

Well spotted Paulisi, I was just wondering the same thing regarding James. Cant see him getting a WC for Queens as the likes of Cam, Liam and Jay would likely be in front of him for that. Probably a QWC for Wimbledon and a MDWC for one of the lesser grass tournaments.

Not seen Aidan since he won a G5 at Liverpool. Very impressed for someone so young.
Big serve, huge forehand and decent at the net. You can see why he is a top junior.

With a bit more consistency on his serve and experience will improve this shot selection, then he could easily do what Jay Clarke has done.

Yes. As per last year at roehampton, I thought he had really excellent ball skills, well beyond the norm for tennis players. Definitely warranted a fiver. I know he was worried  about his height. But he's not the smallest. He's  a real crowd pleaser to watch too.

Yes, I didn't see much today but pretty impressed with what I did see. Stepped up again since I last saw him.

Given the boys develop in relative overall ability and ranking terms much slower than the girls plenty time on his side.

There are currently only 6 boys in the live under 18 top 1000 rankings, which Aidan must be very close to with the 10 points he has already. And only 2 in the top 800, which Aidan wouldn't have been far off if he'd won today. I certainly see him continuing to develop and fairly swiftly moving up the rankings
