Just actually saw the very last game but saw on livescore Jay holding in a long game with BPs for 3-2* with indeed over 30 points in total in Jay's opening 3 service games of the final set.
Looks as if that might have broken the Harrison spirit a bit, combined with Jay then immediately breaking for *4-2.
Not the first time Jay has held in a very long game recently to good effect.
Solid performance from Jay, watched bits of it. He's much more of a natural on clay than Harrison, moves a lot better. Not his best performance today, quite a few unforced errors off the ground, missed a fair few forehands on big points which he would normally make. But really showed his mental toughness. Could have folded after he let Harrison right back into the match after being in control at 6-3, 2-0 up, with Harrison on self-destruct mode having lost 5 games in a row. But some really gritty tennis in that final set to close it out.
Harrison's temperament appears to really let him down. He went totally AWOL in the first set, at one point yelling out "Every day I want to quit. 3-4 times a day." Then in the second set he got in a big dispute with the umpire over one of Jay's serves. Harrison was apparently claiming that Jay's serve wasn't big enough to make the mark the umpire was pointing to. Heard him exclaim, "It's not a Karlovic serve" which was quite funny.
But good win from Jay, it's been impressive how he looks like he clearly belongs at top 200 level, especially on the slower surfaces. Bigger tests will come from opponents (like Bagnis last week, who outmuscled him with his big lefty forehand), who have the firepower to cause him problems on this surface. Harrison was a good grinder, but on a very slow court, lacked the weapons to really hurt Jay.
