Well, an extra 5 points if Jay comes through qualifying, more matches on clay, and he's just had a couple of matches in each of the last couple of weeks.
FQR: (q1) Jay Clarke WR 235 vs Peter Torebko (GER) WR 471 (CH = 182 in July 2012)
The Poland-born German is 30 & in need of a bloody good haircut, if his photo is anything to go by, but he has just taken out the q8, Jared Hiltzik, in three sets.
3 of the 4 qualifier spots are against seeds, #3 Donald Young (USA), #4 Mackenzie McDonald (USA) and #5 Henri Laaksonen (FIN). The other is against Marc Polmans (AUS).
Good stuff. These 5 qualifying points so far for Jay almost cover the 6 points coming off next week and he then has nothing further due off for 2 months, until his Ilkley Challenger 20 points come off on 25th June.
Great that Jay has qualified, Jay would still be in his freshman year so it will be interesting to see how he matches up against Mackenzie McDonald whose college achievements as a double winning NCAA champion in both singles and doubles are second to none since the beginning of this century (2002).
Mackenzie an AO junior SFist in 2012 is in the same birth cohort as Kyle and Cam and is coming up to his second year full time on tour.
