Grey with a 4-1* lead in the second set (she obviously did get the early break in the first as well). Not seen any of the match but I've never really been convinced by Rodionova and you wouldn't think she was a top 150 player.
Had 5-3 *40-30 and a ball looked out but called in and rodionova took the next 2 points to break back it's back on serve with the Aussie serving to stay in the set.
Hopefully Sarah Beth has softened Rodinova up a bit for Katie.
Since Katie turned 19 we have no girls in the top 20 by age at any age group 23 or under. There is a challenging step up in Katie's year ie those not yet 20 with the target being top 200 or there abouts. Indeed I would say it is the toughest step statistically.
The number of girls stepping up drops from 11 to 8 as more younger girls pile in at the bottom and you are beginning to get to the end of transition from the that point turn over becomes more consistent year on year with 8 older players getting into the not yet 21, not yet 22 and then a final cull down to 4 to the not yet 23.
From what I saw yestersday, Katie is certainly capable of beating Rodionova, who reached the SF last week, so has had plenty of match practice. It took almost two and a half hours for her to narrowly beat Beth, while Katie took an hour less in her straightforward win. Katie just needs to be consistent and keep the ball in play, preferably to the wide backhand as Beth managed so well.

That last paragraph sounds as if it might be of interest if I had a clue what it meant
