Juniors playing professional senior tennis 2018

Finally! In Uganda

SF George Loffhagen UNR lost to (2) Fabrizio Ornagi WR432 2-6 7-6(3) 6-4

It is fair to say finding your level in senior Tennis as a 17 year old junior is inside the top 500 is reason for optimism, lots of it.

George is ranked exactly ATP 1000 today

A nice round number (which will obviously go up next week).

Overtakes Aidan, also age 17 but a sporting year older, who's 1012.

(NB Finn Bass, age 18 but no longer a junior, is now ATP 774)

George I think was working out Mr Dzhanashia and should he get the opportunity one would hope for a different outcome. A very effective few weeks in Uganda.

L32: (4) Shalva Dzhanashia (RUS) WR 634 defeated (SE) George Loffhagen WR 1000 by 6-2 7-6(7)

Emma appears to be enjoying her trip to Israel.

R32: Emma Radacanu (GBR) UNR beat Madison Bourguignon (USA) 1058 6-4 6-3

Not to be left out cut and pasted from the Jerba main thread,

L32: Aidan McHugh WR 1012 defeated Hugo Schott (FRA) WR 1166 by 1-6 7-5 6-1

He's really becoming battle-hardened, isn't he? Schott served for the match at 5-3 in the second set!

L16: Aidan McHugh WR 1012 vs (2) Moez Echargui (TUN) WR 492 (CH = 456 in March)

But not such good news from Tunisia on the ladies side

Q Miriana Tona (ITA) defeated (4) Francesca Jones (GB) 6-4 6-4

Another good week with two of our highly ranked juniors making head way in senior tournaments, Fran and George leading the way last week this time its Aidan with a chance of making a quarter final and Emma is already there!

Things have opened up a bit for Emma in Israel. The no 2 seed Ilona Ghioroaie (WR 441) retired after 1 game in R1 against a very LL , Ilona was last weeks winner and Emma has just beaten the other finalist. Laetitia disposed of another qualifier in the first round and the very luck loser in the second. Laetitia has played plenty of 15Ks and this is her first QF. After a good win yesterday Emma has created an opportunity for herself here.

QF: Emma RADUCANU (GBR) UNR 15yrs (JCH:45 April 18) vs Laetitia PULCHARTOVA (CZE) UNR 17yrs (JCH:1362 Jan 15)

Emma has efficiently despatched her 29 year old QF opponent who has had a similar rank for a decade.

SF: RADUCANU, Emma (GBR) Q UNR def EKSHIBAROVA, Vlada (ISR) 3 425 6-3 6-0

Emmas final opponent is of a similar standard to her last now 22 with a JCH(267), her trip to China involved playing consistently tougher opponents and as preparation has served her well here.

F: RADUCANU, Emma (GBR) Q UNR v SCHOLSEN, Helene (BEL) 4 504 CH=394 17/7/17

Brandon Murphy (born 2000) is playing qualis in Tunisia this weekend. Unfortunately, he's drawn another Brit, Ed Harwood.
Ed's been playing quite a lot and will be a challenge but I like Brandon, lovely fluid player, I wish him luck.

Ed's a lovely guy but IMO a very average tennis player so Brandon could well be in with a shout
