Juniors playing professional senior tennis 2018

Iman Garshong was in Antalya for week 18. She was 18.390 on the date of her first match. She won two rounds of qaulifying, but lost in the FQR.

Blob I have drawn a line at those still able to compete in Juniors this year the oldest of which are born on the 1/1/2000 otherwise many of the other 1999ers would still qualify for example the likes of Jody Burrage who represent a different group of young but senior players. Its obviously not a police state and grateful for anything you post but that was my rational.

Meanwhile in Uganda George who is junior eligible in 2019 takes on the 5 th seed.

L32:  (Q) George Loffhagen UNR defeated (Q) Ansu Bhuyan (IND) UNR by 2 & 3

*****

L16:  (5) Aaron Cortes (ESP) WR 1015 (CH = 955 last September) vs (Q) George Loffhagen UNR

Nell put up a decent fight in the second set but not to be.

R2: MILLER, Nell (GBR) UNR [18yo JCH=185] lost to KUBAREVA, Anna (BLR) 6 890 =CH [17yo JCH=233] 4-6 5-7

Emilie now gears up for her QF match.

QF: LINDH GALLAGHER, Emilie (GBR) [Q] UNR vs VULPIO, Julia (FRA) [5] 1141 (CH:900 Feb 18) 17yrs (JCH:302 Sept 15)

meanwhile Aidan unsurprisingly was unable to bridge the near 1000 place ranking difference to dismiss the no 3 seed although that first set, wow.

L32:  (3) David Guez (FRA) WR 284 defeated (WC) Aidan McHugh WR 1252 by 7-6(5) 6-3

More than steady result form George, this whole cohort of 2001 ers on the boys side plus Holly and Emma will be very entertaining to follow through their first steps into senior tennis.

Well, ignoring 'Grandad Kyle', and unless I've missed someone, George and Emilie, (and Finn, who's only just out of Junior-ITF-nappies) are now our last singles standing !

Well done, the youngsters - and good luck to them.

I dont think George is quite done here yet, nice result against an experienced opponent over three sets coming back strongly in the third. Impressive stuff

WEEK 19 mens

George returns for a second week this time in the main draw as a SE after last weeks success

L32: (5) Tyler Lu (USA) WR 948 (CH = 946 in February) vs (SE) George Loffhagen UNR

Tyler now 22 was a strong college player in a weaker conference, he dominated (7-0) in conference play at the no 1 spot as Captain of Yale. He graduated last summer. An interesting choice of institution given he is from SoCal and the relative strength of the PAC 12 both academic and athletic ie. clever very good tennis players are 10 a penny and the day to day standard of practice and competition much higher. His standout win was at Cal where he beat the highly ranked Florian Lakat at the no 1 slot but his team lost. He has been trying his hand at challenger qualifying in south east Asia with little success. Should be a good test for George
