Juniors playing professional senior tennis

2022:

Bath 25ks:

Boys: The big news here is that Phoenix Weir (2005) has qualified and beaten Anton Mat. (ATP 460) in R1.
That's the first ranking point for him

Girls: Jasmine Conway (2004) got a super R1 win over a Romanian WTA 650 or so player.
Ella McDonald (2005) also got a R1 win (over Eva Shaw (2005))

A mention, too, for Brooke Black (2007) who won her QR1 match (over 2006-er, Amelie Brooks)
Juniors Fran Davis and Hannah Smith also got wins.

ADD: Phoenix, Jasmine and Ella all lost their R2 matches, but posted decent scores and decent performances

Loughborough 25ks:

The big news in this event is Mimi Xu (born 2007) who won her way through qualis, beating an Italian woman ranked WTA 733 (as well as a 17 year-old)
She then beat our Emma Wilson in R1 of the main draw.

And 2005-er Talia Neilson-Gatenby also qualified, with wins over the WTA 1195 (although then lost her R1 to another qualifier rather easily)

In the qualis, 2007-born Daniela Piani also got a QR1 win.

Jasmine Conway (2004) was in the MD directly but lost.

(Other juniors who played qualis but lost in QR1, albeit some with very decent scores, include Hannah Smith, Ava Williamson, Fran Davis and Tabitha Holmes)

In the boys, in QR1, Henry Searle, Luca Pow and Yujiro Onuma all lost in Qr1

In Brazil, 25k, Matilda Mut (2004) won her R1 match.

18 points - so they'll both have doubles rankings on 6th Feb.

Shout out to Phoenix Weir (born 2005) who is new into the ATP singles rankings at 1777.
He's our only junior boy with an adult single ranking

And to Jasmine Conway (born 2004) who is +97 to 1031
and Matilda Matusevich (born 2004), +7 to 433

Birmingham women's ITF 25k : two juniors got good wins in the QR1 - with a special shout out for Hep, age 14, who was playing in her first ITF adult event, and defeated a Danish player, ranked 760, in great form, having won the 25k in Loughborough ! (those points not added yet):

QR1: (wc) OLUWADARE, Hephzibah (GBR) UNR (age 14, born 2007) def SAMAVATI, Sofia Nami (DEN) (12) 760 6-4 4-6 [10-7]
QR1: CONWAY, Jasmine (GBR) 1031 (age 17, born 2004) def KANEV, Kathleen (GER) (14) 805 6-3 6-2

There were losses for Issey Purser, Ava Williamson, Fran Davis and Brooke Black (but some decent scores in there)

In the men's Shrewsbury 25k, there were also QR1 losses for Fabio Nestola, Patrick Brady, Yujiro Onuma and young Henry Searle (2006) which was the real stand-out effort, IMO.

GIRLS

Singles: new WTA career highs for our junior girls:

Matilda +5 to 428 and Jasmine +2 to 1029

AND a big improvement in our doubles girls

Loughborough SF points going on for Hannah and Tabitha, and the single point for Jessica and Pauline was enough to give them a ranking, having got 9 from making the QFs in Bath earlier in Jan.

NEW IN

Hannah Smith (2004) at 1151
Tabitha Holmes (2005) at 1181
Jessica Matthews (2004) at 1427
Pauline Jurkowska (2005) at 1427

Mega congrats to all four girls !!!

(and, for completeness, Matilda also has a doubles ranking at 1090
