Week 14 - ITF ($15K) - Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt - Hard

First Serve was effective 70.5% in, 72.1% won

Next round looks tough.
R16: Tara MOORE (GBR) [2] 479 defeated Caroline WERNER (GER) 577 6-4 6-2

QF: Tara MOORE (GBR) [2] 479 v. (WC) Greet MINNEN (BEL) 766 (CH 263, Sep. 2016)
> H2H 0-1
> 2015 Bath, UK - ITF $25K - Hard - R32 - Minnen 6-2 4-6 6-2

Minnen was a good junior and making good progress in the pros, but stalled by injury. Didn't play much last year, and RET more often than not when she did take court. Making her way back.
Ranking not indicative of talent here - for either player.

Only 7 Double Faults as well which is good for Tara. Always wondered if a player has as dreadful a serve as Tara does if underarm is the way to go or if it would be frowned upon. Top 100 player on her day minus that serve.

Relatively speaking for Tara compared to some past occasions maybe but that's still 7 in just 9 service games.

Here her second serve in % (11/18 = 61%) was actually worse than a very decent first (43/61 = 70%).

For a time she actually did pretty well considering that serve handicap but over recent times the rest of her game in general has also clearly gone significantly backwards, that serve maybe being a demotivating factor over time.

Pity. And just hope matches and wins at whatever level can help.

I've seen Minnen, good junior, but nothing special.
An on song Tara should win this match.

Last time Tara was last Brit standing was week 1 of 2017. She is now though.
No breaks, no BP even.
*3-3

Not quite last Brit standing, there are still 2 men left.

As our Andy would say "last female player" (in ref to his famous comment about the Williams sisters)

Suitably admonished. The week 1 2017 reference was also only for GB Women, I have no idea about that week for the men.

QF: Tara MOORE (GBR) [2] 479 defeated (WC) Greet MINNEN (BEL) 766 6-4 6-1

SF: Tara MOORE (GBR) [2] 479 v. Angelina GABUEVA (RUS) 896 (CH 423, Jun. 2013)
> H2H 1-0
> 2011 - Dubai, UAE - ITF $75K - Hard - QR1 - Moore - 6-2 6-2

Jodie lost 0 & 5 to Gabueva in a recent Sharm SF.

Very good! 6-1
Tara broke every Gabueva serve. She also saved 7/8 BP (three of them in game three with consecutive Aces!), and took 3/5 of her own BP.
Another set like that will do nicely
