Week 14 - ITF ($15K) - Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt - Hard

The contrasting fortunes of TaCo are very marked. Not that long ago Tara was the higher ranked player. Now Conny is in the FQR in Monterrey, whilst Tara has come all the way back to Sharm in the search for a few points...

R32: Tara MOORE (GBR) [2] 479 vs Giulia CRESCENZI (ITA) [Q] 1214

Just to update on Tara's ranking. She slips 9 places to 479 this week, but next week will slip another 37 places to 516, as 10 points for reaching QR2 in Monterrey last year come off. I hadn't quite realised the irony/ contrast between last year and this. Conny also reached QR2 last year.

Tara is top seed in doubles too playing with Eleni Kordolaimi (GRE). Up against a Polish WC pair in the first round, scheduled for tomorrow. Singles likely Wednesday.

Opponent decided:
R32: Tara MOORE (GBR) [2] 479 defeated (Q) Giulia CRESCENZI (ITA) 1219 6-3 6-1

R16: Tara MOORE (GBR) [2] 479 v. Caroline WERNER (GER) 577 (CH 566, Sep. 2017)
Danielle Daley lost 1 & 1 to Werner recently, in Israel. Fran & Maia also lost to her in 2017, leaving Naomi the only Brit to manage a win against her in 2017-18.

From 5-1* Tara had a major wobble, but just pulled out of the tailspin in time, 6-4

Hopefully a few wins, albeit at a lower level, will give Tara some confidence as well as a few points. It is less than a year since her CH 145.

Only 7 Double Faults as well which is good for Tara. Always wondered if a player has as dreadful a serve as Tara does if underarm is the way to go or if it would be frowned upon. Top 100 player on her day minus that serve.
