Week 14 - USA F9 ($25,000) - Memphis, TN (hard)

Yes a decent set of results so far this week for the Futures guys. Hopefully they can convert the promising starts to the week into something really good points wise!

Yes, that's the most important thing ultimately from the week.

For now I did think it was still a quite remarkable R1 effort if I assume all a bit coincidental after the general slow start to the year by most. But I sense folk seem more generally underwhelmed

I have plenty of time for both Jack and Billy. Jack I think has shown consistent growth through college and into senior tennis.

Billy deserves his success as a reward for his persistence and total commitment had he gone to college he would still be in his final year. He managed to graft his way up almost 500 places in rank from 2016 to 2017 out of the back of a transit. This weeks results hopefully will give him a lift ie making Head way against players ranked in the next tier 500-300. He is the only non seed left in

Interesting opponents for our college boys, Monette is ex Indiana state (Big 10 so power conference) but a regional champion as a senior now in his second year of futures, so not dissimilar to Jack and Ryan although Jack excelled throughout in a weak conference and still made an excellent pression nationally which is unusually so perhaps potential for more growth now he is playing better players all the time.

. Bourchier in contrast went straight to futures now 22 and in the 400's has more similarities with Billy (it would be interesting to compare how they have been resourced) ...... I know who would get my Wimbledon Qualifying play off wildcard if their were a choice between Billy and OG for example.

Sorry didnt mean to come across as being negative. I was really pleased with the overall set of R1 results and its great that so many of them did it in the same week. What i was trying to convey was that it is even better if they can convert R1 success into something a bit more as , as we all know, it is reaching SFs and further that can give the guys a real leg-up rankings wise. As I write this Ryan Peniston has made the QFs and (following on live scores) I am so impressed with the fighting qualities shown today so far by Jack F-H. Currently hes at 3-3 in the final set against Monette

Given so many close ones have gone the wrong way today, it is good to finally get one over the line. Well played Jack.

Absolutely. Jack and Ryan P (and Ryan S) make it a pretty good day in the end. Great results from the two of them here. And in a 25k too.

Sorry, you didn't, and I certainly agree that SFs and beyond are what really racks up points.

It was unfortunate that I added the folk "generally underwhelmed"  in my reply to you for I really did mean folk in general after I'd done my woopee doopee clap clap clap for the 7 out of  7

Very good that we have had these late results to improve today ( and 25K ones ) from a win point of view.

Apologies again.
