Week 14 - USA F9 ($25,000) - Memphis, TN (hard)

Well a google search found this article about Trice Pickens.

www.tennisrecruiting.net/article.asp

It also mentions a certain Strong Kirchheimer
I reckon this is one for the US college experts !

Jack F-H is actually ranked 916 in doubles this week.

And from only playing 5 ranking tournaments.

I agree. In this age of mega high-tech, the fact that the ITF site doesn't synch to the new rankings immediately is just ridiculous (what are they doing? checking each one individually by hand?)

Quite remarkable futures R1 by our guys in their various locations.

7 player including 3 qualifiers, with 3 playing seeds and 5 playing players ranked higher than themselves, and all 7 have won !

In the Italy 25K (Q) Billy Harris has now played his R2 match and beaten the third seed WR 289 in that.

Yes a decent set of results so far this week for the Futures guys. Hopefully they can convert the promising starts to the week into something really good points wise!

All about the points for the 800+ players. Don't forget the US college boys & girls should be back for grass court season and Wimbledon playoffs and the cut off could be 1000?

Difficult to say at this stage but could be a bit higher play-off direct entry than WR 1000, for the men anyway.

Just say 3 Wimbledon direct MD entries plus an initial total of 8 WCs ( MD + WC ).

Then the normal 10 direct play-off entries would take us to 21 players. Currently to Finn WR 926 and we have a further 4 in the top 1000.

Now that will shift a bit, maybe up or down with general rankings movement. Maybe one or two will be unfit and will say Oli take up a direct play-off entry? And I guess we could have someone from outside the top group getting a Wimbledon Q WC, say Aidan McHugh. Evo is a bit of a general WC on his own in the overall mix.

So top 1000 at least does seem a decent starting aim.

Then again some would say there is far too much obsession about Wimbledon in any event     But just considering the question.
