Good start from Emma, couldn't have been any cleaner smile She now moves on to play the q11 seed. Unfortunately she also has the q2 seed in her section of the draw, so to win three matches to reach the main draw is likely to be as tough a challenge this week as it was last. Just checked the odds and Emma is 1/20 to win her final qualifying match, so a huge favourite. The HK girl is 15/2. Granted, they did make Emma a favourite in the FQR last week and she lost in straight sets, but that was much closer 1/3 vs 9/4, so judging by this, a great chance for Emma to make her first pro main draw.

Kwan Yau just managed to get under 300 as a junior but is now pretty experienced at this level, she's played almost 80 ITF's and some Fed cup doubles.

Back in 2015 she was beaten by Megan Davies at the Wirral futures, a year after Megan had won the Nike International juniors grade 5 at the same venue age 15, a tournament Emma won the next year just turned 13. Definitely in with a chance of making the main draw.

The odds don't really make sense - they also have Monica Robinson as overwhelming favourite against the fourth Q seed. Maybe just a lot of 'Western' money and no Chinese betting?

Not saying Emma doesn't have a good chance but those odds are off the scale.....

I can't say I ever look at the odds. She has played almost 80 futures and only progressed out of qualifying less than a handful of times. She also list to Alicia Barnett in September.
