RE: GB Player of the Month

Ok, I'll create a separate thread for the nomination process

Isn't that a bit complicated? Can't we just have one thread???? This one? That has ongoing interest, not just once a month because it highlights the achievements people think are noteworthy as we go along? And then has a vote at the end (for those who want to)?

I think the voting can best be managed via a poll, dont you. Dont mind re separate thread or not to be frank. I'll take it down and post message here.

So for gb player of month - starting with February 2020

This thread is to capture nominations as the month progresses, men or women or juniors, singles or doubles.

If people list worthy names here, I'll capture them into a poll at end of each month. The month is to include all events starting in february, so weeks 5 to 8, monday 3rd February up to and including WC 24th feb.

If nominations exceed 20, I'll need to cull in some way, but let's cross that bridge if we get there!

First two nominations from coup droit are Kyle Edmund and Henry Patten.

On a semi serious note, looking across January, we had the following performance of note:

ITF Mens - Binding, Hoyt, Johnson and Glasspool won mens doubles titles

ITF Womens - Burrage won a doubles title and was RU in a singles event

APT Challenger - Jay Clarke was a SF in a Challenger

WTA Tour - Heather Watson was a SF in Hobart

ATP Tour - Luke had a win in Auckland and an RU in Qatar. Jamie Murray was RU in Australian Open mixed. Joe won Australian Open mens doubles.

ITF Juniors - not sure who had a noteworthy month, maybe someone with Junior insight can suggest someone?

I think it is hard to look past Joe therefore, maybe honorable mentions to Luke and Jamie, maybe Heather also?

So maybe it is a given that Joe Salisbury is January player of the month!

At the end of the year, we can put the 12 monthly winners (fewer if somebody wins more than once) into a vote off and then choose between them for Player of the Year.

Just recapping February to date:

ITF Mens Tour - no winners, Hoyt and Johnson got a RU in doubles, Aidan McHugh and Billy Harris have both got SF places in ITF events in Feb.

ITF Womens - Sam Murray-Sharan picked up a doubles RU, Katie Boulter and Jodi Ann Burrage both get ITF semi places in Feb

ATP Challenger - no finalists so far this month

WTA Tour - nothing of note so far

Fed Cup - team lost to Slovakia and not sure any of the performances are noteworthy in terms of this thread?

ATP Tour - Kyle won New York ATP 250; Dom won New York Doubles, Montpellier RU, and Dan QF in Rotterdam at ATP 500 level.

Again, any input on juniors welcomed.
