6-1 6-2 in the end. 8 straight wins and unseeded player in the semi finals (although Elbaba was seeded higher than Jodie and lost in both weeks).
I bet Elbaba is sick of the sight of Jodie - this is only the second time she has left the US/Canada in a year and likely on the quest for some cheap points and reasonably early exits (from a 3rd seed POV) both times.
SF: Jodie BURRAGE (GBR) [6] 546 v. (Q) Angelina GABUEVA (RUS) 1005 (CH 423, Jun. 2013)
Gabi & Sam had straight sets wins over Gabueva in 2017; she defeated Jodie in last weeks doubles final.

Not much GB action involving the GB women over the next few days; hope Jodie can reach another final, if only keep us with us at least a couple of live players to follow.
0-1*

Was just about to say Jodie down an early break. Winner will face Nastja Kollar who is on a 14 match winning run after coming from a set down to beat Stefkova in the earlier semi final.
Wow, looking a case of the less said the better here. It's 0-6 and *15-40 in the opening game of the second set and as Blob's post was just 18 mins ago, you'd expect most of those first set games to be pretty routine.
Looking at her form this week, this is Gabueva's 6th match and she has yet to drop a set. In her 11 straight sets thus far, she has only dropped 21 games.
Jodie loses 0-6 5-7. It was on serve at 5-4* but the Russian has taken the last 3 games to win the match. At least it was more respectable in the end and still a great couple of weeks for her.
