Jonathan Gray should get a Wim WC this year.

I think this guy should get a WC. Don't get me wrong, Broady and Clarke deserve them (if Norrie is DE that is and the LTA refuse to give EVO a WC), then we are left with no choice but to give Gray a WC

He is making in-roads on the futures circuit and is ready to step up to challenger soon, plus he is still young.

All those ahead of him do not deserve a WC

Glasspool- career going backwards

Farquharson- now 26 and never been in top 300, so cannot take career seriously

Corrie- had too many handouts over the years

Klien- same as above, and career going nowhere

A.Ward- Maybe, but career going nowhere tbh.

J.Ward, had too many handouts

That is an interesting one and I agree with most of this; I am not sure they will give a main draw wild card to someone outside the top 500 that isn't previously proven though. I suspect that Gray wouldn't get one, based on current situation.

Dan I think will be a last minute call depending on how he has buckled down and public perception, press response when he comes back. they may test the water with a wild card or two in the forthcoming challengers and then in the grass events and see how response goes down.

But if they dont give him one, my feeling is it would be Liam and Jay, yes, and then any other Brit could be entirely down to someone having  some good , prominent results between now and the time these things are decided, and  then , if not Dan, the rest going to any  overseas players felt to be deserving eg winners of the Grass challengers etc. But, for what it is worth, I think Dan will get one, just a feeling, but it is down to him

Oh dear  disbelief

Jonny Gray ( CH 547 ) has spent the last 3 weeks in Greece 15Ks getting knocked out in R2 while twice a seed. His R2 draw against Maxime Authom, the champion that week, in the second of these was quite tough, but he is so not making great inroads in futures at the moment. Anyway he's in R2 again this week, again a seed.

All the best to him, he's in general a decent prospect, and I have him in my GB top 10 predictions but steady ...

I think a wild card into Qualification is more realistic.

Depends on his form over the next few months. Nothing happening so far this season.

He should be in wildcard qualification IMO

This thread is Vandy click bait designed to suck in the less discerning poster into asinine discussion of an entirely hypothetical irrelevance, please discuss.

Ah, Oakie, the discerning voice

Whatever, maybe some folk prefer to just take a minute or two so as not to leave certain statements uncommented upon. Otherwise some undiscerning newbie might think we all agree.

Oh and Jonny won his R2 match this week, well done him.

Pure nonsense.  Please provide a logical argument to why he should not get a WC.

You might snort but I doubt Evans will get a sniff somehow.

True, chances are they'll be snowed under with other options. Players will be forming a line to get in.

This has been another terrible year for our lower ranked players with most stuck in reverse gear as Vandy originally stated. Only Jay and Liam deserve or are anywhere near getting one as things stand. Unless someone has a really good run between now and then they should be awarded to more deserving overseas players, maybe one or two youngsters who miss the DE deadline.

Nearly forgot, Jim ward will get one. Why? Because he always does!

The reason Wardy gets a WC is because he has contributed so much to the GB Davies cup effort over countless years - and it's well deserved.  Incidentally I think Dan will probably get one too assuming he shows at least reasonable form on his return.

Agree with that re Dan and Wardy could well come through if he gets decent results between now and the date these things are decided.

We are all well aware of what Ward has done in the dim and distant past in DC but he has been rewarded very well for this already, those days are long gone now. We can't live in the past forever and moving into the here and now, there is no case to state for him. Even if he does exceptionally well from now on I feel he has had more than enough freebies. He's 31 and coming towards the end of his career, needs to stand on his own two feet.
