More generally some of us like talking rankings just in a kind of sports stato way without actually considering them any real be all and end all, particularly short term apart from occasional entry or seeding goals. Rankings are interesting. Just occasionally re a particular player I will say something like of course general development is the main thing just now but I don't really think any disclaimer is generally necessary and I think most folk here can see see them in context particularly for young players.

Gabi's match is just starting now, Kato, the 2nd seed having shot through her match before. This match seems to be on the main court, in that there is stand to one side. It's further from the blue gum trees, but from the flags behind the stands, although there is some wind it is much calmer than their first day of play. 

I will not be watching much, but Gabi has taken an early break, winning the third game to love *2-1
