Week 12 - ITF ($60K) - Canberra, Australia - Clay

Sadly her opponent has been playing a lot better, and Gabi hasn't stepped up her game to match, so she's been broken back.

Breaks back *4-3. That wind does sound awful.

Wind howling and Bozovic doing some amazing retrieving. Breaks Gabi back after one point at 30-15 which Gabi seemed to have won 2 or 3 x, but each time Bozovic found a way back and eventually came to the net to put away a well deserved winner. Next game though, her attention flagged a little and Gabi won the last 3 points, the break back itself from a badly missed volley at the net by Bozovic. But its a good match with some enthralling rallies, given the conditions. *4-3

It's easier playing the far side from the camera which is the side with the wind. Both players finding it easier to come to the net that side, and playing into the wind, it's harder to push the opponent back. Gabi takes advantage of being with the wind to win the last two games of the set 6-3.

I swear there's been a couple of shots from the Aussie that have gone out on the right hand side but not given, twice this game.

Bozovic now holds on this bad side 2-0*

The trees in the background seem identical to those at Gabi's last 25k final - do they move them from event to event confuse

I guess days like this are why one is advised to tie their kangaroo down.
It's a bit breezy.

Kind of an anyway will do type of match up there. Hopefully the conditions will settle down a bit in the coming days.

Katy's turn, warming up: http://live.itftennis.com/en/live-streams/video.php?vid=14123851

Best of luck to her, and any staying up for it.

Gabi will play Jia-Jing Lu WR228 - Laura beat her in straights in one of the Perth events.
