Emily's doubles form at $15K continues - it's an umpteenth final from umpteen events - it doesn't matter who she plays with, she gets them to a final.
SF: Appleton/Eklund (GBR/FIN) [2] 931 defeated Boev/Gaspar (BEL/ROU) [3] 1212 6-3 7-6(2)

I am not surprised by this.  Fran is only more lowly ranked because she has played less.  Her results have been much more impressive.

I wanted to say so earlier, but thought it would be unwise to risk jinxing her.   I am a huge admirer of her spirit and attitude to life and badly wanted her to win.

Getting a good partner is half the battle. Mia Eklund won 3 15k doubles titles with 3 different partners last year as well as a singles title. Partnered Emily Arbuthnot at the Chiswick 25k in August. #2 Finnish doubles player.

Fran had break point at 30-40 in the first game of the second set, but Kilnarova went on to take it. Went back to check the score and there was nothing showing so assumed Kilnarova may have ran away with it, but I see it has been suspended. Current score 3-6 *0-1.

Now un-suspended but hasn't improved Fran's lot.

Francesca Jones GBR 3-6 *1-4 [2] Monika Kilnarova CZE
