A really fighting performance from Emilie as she goes searching for her second counter. Into a third set now, but she is chasing a break, which since the start of the second set have been hard for her to come by. 6-3 2-6 3-4*

Extremely impressive notwithstanding against the WR481

An extremely good battle for over 2 hrs, but no points from it for Emilie sadly.

That's the first time Emilie has taken a set off of a player ranked in the top 750.
In a different week, with a kinder draw, may be capable of a point.

With that performance and her FQR win over WR1071 (former 879), Emilie is definitely capable of gaining a ranking, if she has the opportunities.

Useful comeback. Probably need to hit the ground running in the next round.

Julia ia in her second year on the full time tour having done all four years at Virginia, she was ranked as a top 20 college player as a freshman and generally for her whole college career was ranked about 5 ish, won the ITA indoor.

In stark contrast Jodie declined ? A place at Florida (a stronger school) to go straight on tour the fact they are meeting here ranked 5 and 3 respectively suggests Jodie made the correct decision from a tennis perspective.

Elbaba is also, of course, the player that Laura R double bagelled in the final of the $25K in Landisville, which seemed a genuine return to form at the time, and now seems very long ago.

Jodie has started here and is up an early break, so yes would seem to have hit the ground running today... 3-1*
