I see that the Irving, Texas Challenger certainly offers much more straightforward qualifying this week. It's literally about futures qualifying strength.
Just 6 singles ranked players, all who have byes to a FQR against either each other ( with the lower seed ranked outside the top 1200 ) or an unranked opponent with 5 points and a MD place for the winner of that. The top Q seed is WR 723.

It appears according to MTF that Kontinen and Peers are playing in doubles in Irving , singles original field appears to have around a dozen players that given way to alternates so maybe that in turn decimated the qualies field?
