Yes, Fran's journey will be interesting this year, including seeing her far she can get in challenging for that gaping #10 berth. A while to go there, top 500 first target, and for that she needs another net 33 points, which is more than double her current 31 points (including this week's 2 so far). So small steps will help, and taking out her qualifier opponent in her next match will help with 2 more...
She's the real deal is Ms. Jones.
If her hands let her play regularly enough, she'll go far.
Her results make me smile more than any other current player.
Rosa Vicens Mas = Red More Than Others - does this mean she likes clay?

Agreed, Fran doesnt need the sympathy vote, if she can stay fit and is supported by the LTA, I can see her hunting down the twenty somethings in double quick time, moving on from 25K will be the challenge. Great to see her moving forward.
She may not need the sympathy vote, and I am sure she wouldn't want it, which is credit to her, but it is truly amazing. Her hands are about half/two-thirds of the size they 'should' be, not to mention feet, wrists etc. The girl is awesome.
As above, brilliant to see her getting some great results.
Fran is playing now and is a set down to her fellow 17 yr old. However, she's managed to go a break up at the start of the 2nd set on her 3rd BP. 3-6 *2-0
Lost to a lower ranked player unfortunately, Fran's play in the second set not kept up in the third, when it looks her serve was attacked more successfully. Fran went in freefall to 0-5 in the third, recovered one break, and had two game points to go to 3-5, but failed to convert and lost on the first BP against her in that game.
QF: JONES, Francesca (GBR) 679 lost to VICENS MAS, Rosa (ESP) Q 834 CH=831 26/2/18 17yo JCH=702 3-6 6-1 2-6
That's it from GB's women this week, none left in singles, just Alicia and Olivia in doubles, up now. Disappointing week with 3 injured players, Katie S, Laura, and now it seems Harriet too.
