Not looking good for Kyle at the moment. He is one game from defeat.
Sela leads 6-4 5-4*
Time for Kyle to show some of that resolve he found earlier in the year. Have to admit that I was always nervous about this, being his first match back after a lay off. Hope he can turn it around.
But re serve won stats yes 2nd set had low 2nd serve won stats, but the first set had low first serve won stats: 41% (9/22) as against 2nd serve 71% (10/14). Second set that first serves won % jumped up to 82% (9/11) but then a very low (37%) first serve in % combined with 37% (7/19) points being won on second serve.
Overall his first and second serve won stats actually ended very close. 1st: 55% (18/33) and 2nd 53% (17/33).
So no surprise with these figures that he was broken twice in each set.
Hope he gets his mojo and certainly serve mojo back asap, whether it be his time off, a bad day at the office or a combination.
Watched it all and Kyle just refused to come to the net when sela was just floating balls back into play. Was missing too many first serves and sela punished the second.
Sela is an experienced operator and kyle was rusty. But still, so disappointing. This whole event has proved underwhelming for the brits. Roll on miami. Roll on the clay!
