Heather should've won that match at Wimbledon and she should really win this one given that Vika has not played competitively since Wimbledon -through no fault of her own.
I think she was partly responsible for the reason for not playing !
Well ok, partly responsible then. Although you can understand why she might not want to travel without her child and has therefore stayed in California.
Hard to know what Vika will be capable of. If Heather were in any form, you'd have to give her a chance. Sloane would be next, and at the moment, that looks entirely winnable, so if she can catch Victoria still rusty, it would be good.
Good to have Azarenka playing again though, and a WC that from my point of view exemplifies the best use of the system.
Jo is in a good looking section: Vondrousova/Q, Sabalenka/Lepchenko, the two youngsters there are dangers but inconsistent, and Varvara is wily, but on the wane.
The other seed is Sveta who is coming back from a long absence, having not played since Beijing due to a wrist injury. Great to see her back, but you never know how the wrist will hold up.
If Jo were in any sort of form, and Indian Wells courts not unsuited to her - the Andy IW factor - you'd have to hope for a bit of a run.

Data I post, opinions I offer, 'facts' I assert, are almost certainly all stupidly wrong.
I did wonder why Vika hadn't entered the 125k event at Indian Wells last week as a warm up given her lack of match play and the fact that it is one of the very few events in California, but the fact that she didn't should help Heather??
