Boys: PTT - ITF Junior, Thailand, hard - Grade 1 (Week 10)

Connor Thomson is a late withdrawal, leaving Jack Draper as the only Brit in the first Asian G1 event, though Joanna Garland (who has a British father) is second seed in the girls event.

R1 (L48)

(16) Jack Draper bye

Have we seen Jack in 2018 so far?

Hoping for him to make some big moves with these two grade 1 events.

Jack had a tough start to the year down under, failing to win a match (a retirement followed by a straight sets loss at the Australian Open). Since then he did qualify for one of the GB Futures events.

R2

(16) Jack Draper v Jesper Klov Nilsson (SWE)

Jack progresses, coming back strongly after losing the opening set. He takes on the second seed, ranked JWR23 but without an outstanding CV for someone at that level (though he reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open)

R2

(16) Jack Draper d. Jesper Klov Nilsson (SWE) 4-6 6-1 6-0

R3

(16) Jack Draper v (2) Ray Ho (TPE)

A strong scoreline for Jack, who takes on another Australian Open quarter-finalist next, and good progress in the doubles to boot

R3

(16) Jack Draper d. (2) Ray Ho (TPE) 6-4 6-1

QF

(5) Rinky Hijikata (AUS) v (16) Jack Draper

Doubles SF

(5) Lehecka/Paulson (CZE) v (8) Draper/Squire (GBR/GER)

Two more wins for Jack:

QF:

(16) Jack Draper def. (5) Rinky Hijikata (AUS) 7-5 6-1

Dubs SF:

Jack DRAPER (GBR) / Henri SQUIRE (GER) [8] def. Jiri LEHECKA (CZE) / Andrew PAULSON (CZE) [5] 6-1 6-2

Jack's two wins ensure he will reovertake Jacob as our second highest ranked 2001. Next up in singles is an Aussie who has benefited from two successive retirements, so lets hope that pattern doesn't continue. In doubles he faces a regular partnership who are in their third final this year (won 1 lost 1), and the two Czechs also play each other in the singles semis

SF

(13) Dane Sweeny (AUS) v (16) Jack Draper

Doubles F

(8) Draper/Squire (GBR/GER) v (2) Forejtek/Svrcina(CZE)

Jack is into the final

SF:

(16) Jack Draper def. (13) Dane Sweeny (AUS) 7-5 7-5

In the final, he'll play a Czech lad, one year younger than him, ranked 36, which is impressive.

Dalibor is very impressive has a lot of Grade 2 points where as in comparison Jack has been focusing on Grade 1, A and senior futures Tennis. I still feel Jack has a good chance he has had a sensible balance in terms of winning and loosing against tough opponents over the last 12 months

Awesome stuff.

Would be great to see Jack do the double and make a massive climb in the junior rankings.

Chance to avenge a straight set defeat by Dalibor at the Australian Open. If he does then Jack would crack the top 50 and probably be enough for Roland Garros direct entry

F

(4) Dalibor Svrcina (CZE) v (16) Jack Draper
