Week 10 - ITF ($25K) - Mildura, Australia Grass

Watched a bit of Gabi's match. Her forehand was dominant, but the match was littered with errors.
Interesting for a 25K that there were no line judges.

Another three good wins. Oz seems to suit Gabi and Katy

There was one line judge at the back of the court, same side as the camera. He/she was calling the far side lines on both sides of the net. The umpire was calling the lines her side of the court. There were no ball persons either, the players, aided occasionally by the umpire and the one line judge were having to do all their own ball retrieving too, including walking forward to clear missed first serves in between the first and second serve.

Katy leads 2*-1 in the second

In the other SF, Reix is throwing in a weird mixture of BH slices and moonballs, aces and DFs; she leads 6-3, 1*-2

From 3-3, 5 consecutive breaks, then Katy holds, 4-6, 7-5

Reix awaits in the final

Congratulations to Gaby, commiserations to Katy but always good to see a Brit win! I think that was the expected result although both in good form.

Well done, Gabi. And Katy too.

And good luck re Sherazad, who likes to put up quite racy photos on her Instagram page, and has the interesting quote on one of her posts:

'Leaving a man because he cheats on you is like leaving a country because it's raining. After all, where will you go, girl? It rains everywhere.'

An interestingly 'French' takes on relationships maybe? Or just a bad experience?

Well done Gabby. Shame for Katy.

My one concern. Gabby hit 16 DF's. That needs to be cut down.

It's so impressive to see Gabby so dominate at this level now. I'll be intrigued to see how she does in the final 2 events in AUS on clay. 1 a 60k and 1 a 25k. I would assume her plans for April and May have changed now as she will be in French Open qualifying.

I assume maybe a training block of sorts in april followed by some bigger challenger events/ small WTA events on clay in Europe?
