Technically, as she had won the first set before the RET, it should also count as a new CH best win, too; taking out her current WR1142
R32: (Q) Anna POPESCU (GBR) UNR defeated Mallaurie NOEL (FRA) 696 6-3 RET
R16: (Q) Anna POPESCU (GBR) UNRv. Katharina HOBGARSKI (GER) [2] 279 (CH 219, Aug. 2017) Apart from a niggling recurring injury, I suggest Kat. Hobgarski would probably be pushing towards the top 100

Data I post, opinions I offer, 'facts' I assert, are almost certainly all stupidly wrong.
Anna has just lost her first set 4-6 against the 2nd seed. Lost yes, but she fared much, much better than I expected, and in fact had a BP to go up *5-4, but was unable to take it. She lost on the BPs 1/5 vs 2/6 and on points 33/38, but those stats are all much closer than I expected against the WR 279. Keep it up Anna!
Well Anna held out for 1hr 30, but after losing a long first service game that had a few deuces, the odds were then really stacked against her. Still a performance she can be proud of showing her ability to be competitive (on clay here) at a level at which she has not performed before.
