Anna has taken the first set in her Q3 match and was an early break up in the second, but has now been pegged back 6-4 2-1*
There was a MTO at 4-3 in the first set which I think was for her opponent.
Just the second time in her career that she's managed to win two matches to qualify.
She's qualified other times with one win in a 16 draw; or a win and a w/o or bye; or had two wins in a three round qualifying draw, but lost the FQR; or been in MD as WC or LL.
But as far as getting two wins and into the MD, earned hrough your own efforts - this is just the second time. Well done, Anna.

R32: Sarah Beth GREY (GBR) [5] 597 v Margot YEROLYMOS (FRA) 615 (CH 374, Oct. 2016)
Yerolymos is +94 places in todays rankings, as points for a $15K win in Hammamet go on. We went 2-3 against her in 2017; wins were routs by Arbuthnott & Lumsden.
R32: (Q) Anna POPESCU (GBR) UNR v. Mallaurie NOEL (FRA) 696 (CH 685, Feb. 2017)
1-1 in 2017 for GB; Olivia N won in Clermont-Ferrand, but Sam Murray was a loser in straights at Joue-les-Tours

Sadly Beth had opportunities, more in the 2nd but still in the 3rd set when she was 3-1 up, but the momentum was always the other way from when the tide turned in the second set, and slowly the match ebbed away from her altogether.

Well a promising performance from Anna so far. In the match after Beth's she has just won the first set 6-3, winning it 2 breaks to none. Anna's previous career best win is 1142, so this would fall into a different dimension altogether if she can continue this for another set.... which she will not have to do following her opponent having retired now... good for Anna but disappointing for her opponent.
