I see live rankings show Alicia at 67 and Olivia at 77 now, a 10 place difference - what happened to cause such a gap between them?

Alicia played Hobart and Lyon at the beginning of the year with different partners when Olivia was injured. Those that keep track of doubles points may be able to provide a further explanation.

of course, I remember now, although I guess those points were already in her tally, and the rankings gap seems to have widened this week?

Coric have them at 76 (-7) and 78 (-8) which seems more likely. Alicia and Olivia drop 90 points by the 22nd (next rankings - Rome).

The current live points on Coric are

78 935, 77 939, 76 955, 75 955, 74 960, 73 961, 72 965, 71 985 so it's pretty congested.

They are showing a 1035 versus 954 gap, so 81 points, so maybe arent dropping Lissey's points and keeping her at 67 for some reason??

I agree with 1035 and 954 points so live-tennis.eu may be right. I'll wait for the 22nd.

Both are dropping a 90 point counter. Because of the tournaments Alicia has played without Olivia, Alicia's next counter that replaces the dropped counter is higher than Olivia's. So Alicia has a 50 point counter replacing a 90 point counter (net - 40 points) and Olivia has it being replaced by a 10 point counter (net - 80 points).

Coric is applying singles rules and counting what are mandatory tournaments in singles (the Grand Slams).

Certainly to my mind too, live-tennis has Lissey and Olivia's figures correct and that is a good explanation.

I am not familiar with Coric but live-tennis seems rather more accurate than it was a few years ago. I've always liked its layout but for a time it did make some consistent annoying errors. Pretty but wrong doesn't really work. Better now.

The live rankings places gap is now more than one might have expected but is just one of these quirks about how players around them are distributed, that so many have slotted in between 1035 and 954 points. In the 08/05 official rankings there is just one place between them for a 41 points gap. Now as things stand Lissey is dropping a net 40 points and is up 2 places, Olivia is dropping a net 80 points and is down 7 places and there are 10 places between them for an 81 point gap.
