October's big movers: biggest climber was Abigail Amos up +14 to GB#24, followed by Nell up +5 to GB#18.  Biggest faller was Naomi Broady who dropped out of the rankings from GB#22, followed by Anna Popescu who dropped -7 from GB#25 to GB#32

Just to note a couple of adult doubles moves for our junior players:

Doubles

1540 - Brooke Black (age 14)

(to be honest, it's a bit daft - she's played three dubs matches and lost all three - but somehow that gives you three points and an adult world ranking - what sense does that make???? However, congrats to her all the same)

The other dubs move of note is:

858 (+151) Jessica Matthews

Jess is our top-ranked junior girl in doubles

the ATP got round this issue of players getting rankings with no wins by not awarding points to first round/match losers, nor in qualies. I think it stands out as a bit of an archaic system by the WTA; I am not sure about the 3 events before you get a ranking rule either, I would much rather it be that a player gets a valid point or more for winning matches but not that they have to then get three counters (assuming that is the system, I am not close enough to it!). I guess what I am saying, is, I prefer the ATP ranking approach!

Yes, it's all a bit daft, this WTA business of points for losing, be it 1 point for W25 R1 doubles or 125 for WTA tour finals group matches.

Surely logically when a little while ago they removed the 1 point for W25 singles R1 losses they should have also removed the point for W25 doubles R1 losses even if that's L16 for doubles..

I have never got the impression that a more sensible ranking points system was that near the top of the WTA priorities.

And as I may have mentioned before, but nothing gets done, the rebranding to WTA 250s, 500s and 1000s to tie in with the ATP but not change the winners' points from 280, 470 and 900/1000 is just dumb.

I do at least hope that the apparent bringing in of W40s will be used to help sort out the longstanding W25 points vs prize money nonsense. I have given the blueprint somewhere previously in the forum

Nothing as far as I can see - hopefully somebody else might have picked something on social media.

In November, the biggest climber up the T25 chart was Emma Wilson up +4 to GB#24 and then lots of numerous players up +1.  Going furthest in the opposite direction were Rebecca Hill down -4 and out of the T25 to GB#29 followed by Harriet down -2 to GB#6.
