Just so great to see this run.

And agree with Oakie about Gabi's mental grit - she has it in spades.

Thanks for the match commentaries to Michael and babyfive too.

Sounds a rough day to play, but well done Gabi for fighting through. And thanks for the commentaries too.

Well there's no wind today, which will be good for the tennis.

I love the energy that Gabi brings on court. Still warming up though. A break apiece and then Gabi holds to 30 *2-1.

My feeds a bit erratic, and I have to work this morning, so won't be able to follow quite so closely today!

Mme. Georges has quite the temper on her already. Looks ready to explode completely. Slamming racquets and balls around.
Gabi should be able to capitalise. The aggressive second serve return and judicious use of squash shot defense seem to be causing the greatest fury down the other end.

Well that may be an early turning point because Gabi has the edge now if she can consolidate. A very lengthy 4th game and Georges has several chances to win it but doesn't. The pressure was obviously starting to get to her and she then ends up serving 2 DFs in a row to hand Gabi the game and smashes her racket on the ground almost hard enough to break it.

Gabi walks her next service game quickly 4-1*

Yes, Gabi just needs to make sure she keeps her own cool and let madame down the other end implode.

Every time Gabi changes the angle to go down-the-line on the FH short-side (a tactic Svitolina also uses to great effect to disrupt the flow of points), Georges stands and looks as though it's somehow cheating.

Super serving from *30-30 to go 5-2* up.
First out wide, weak return, follow up the other way - classic 1-2 punch; simple.
Second, Down the T, swinging away Ace.
Both hitting the spots perfectly.
