Before Wimbledon, there's Roland Garros, with the strong possibility of 5 Brits - Naomi, KB, Laura, Gabi, KD - to make qualifying. KS and Harriet could also make it, but both are around 100 points (and ranking places) short at present.
Gabi will overtake Laura @GB5 if she wins tonight; KB ahead of her @GB4 has a lot of 2017 points to defend shortly...
Yes, I agree about the others doing well - it's just they aren't in Perth
I will be very surprised if they don't get wild cards at least into qualifying for Wimbledon, and if they continue like this they might well make it anyway !
I'm sorry if I intruded on Perth by introducing the others, but I thought it was interesting that these 5 who are of a similar(ish) age and ranked GB 4 to 9 (minus Laura) are all performing so well at the same time at 25K tournaments which are widely dispersed places around the world. I think anyone who could get to 150 (possibly 200 depending on how many) by June would get wild card into the main draw, with other going to qualies. Really looking forward to Roehampton this summer.
Top 250 to get wildcards for the main draw seems perfectly reasonable to me, Australia had no qualms about it and they're so desperate they're having to pinch players from other countries to prop up their numbers.
