Sorry to rain on people's parade but I rather think Laura is injured (hip) rather than jetting off to IW.

Yes, that's what I think too.

Does seem the more prosaic and likely reason even if the injury is relatively not too bad. Be great for Laura if otherwise but I'm not sure anyway that she comes that high in such WC thoughts these days.

Don't get me wrong I like Laura and have supported her for years but I just don't think it's likely howevet I hope otherwise.

But hey, if Eden can get a QWC into Dubai, anything can happen.

I floated the same thing a few years ago, and it came true. That was just upon return when organisers/sponsors might have expected or hoped for a swift return to past form and ranking.
This year, it's just a very random swing in the dark: again there's nothing evidentiary to my supposition, just a tingling in the water.
If it's true, for once I'll look like a genius, otherwise, I'll just be the same chump as ever. C'est la vie

I would imagine that there are several bright young American starlets who would be ahead of her in the wildcard order of preference.

Yeah, I'm not sure what you've got in your water there blob, but if you're right you'll have us all after it biggrin

Very good

May the Perth girls continue to undermine Japan's confidence as a women's tennis nation. 6-0 over the last couple of weeks so far. Indeed 12 sets to 0 and mainly pretty emphatic sets too.

Excellent work ladies
Hope for a similarly impressive performance in the next round

For Ms. Dunnes opponent: Katie B was the only Brit to play Shimizu in 2017; in the Kurume SF in week 20, she won in three close sets
Gabi's opponent, Hozumi, has played us twice since 2017, both times against Katy D: As well as her win last week in perth R16, they also played in Lexington, in 2017 week 31, and Katy won 2 & 5

Katy started well, 4-1, but Shimizu hit back.
Katy now serving for the set, *5-4
