MD now filled, confirms Laura's absence. There was the injury RET last week, of course, but I'm going to take a punt on it being either an IW or Miami WC of some description.

Gabi's opponent now known.
R32: Gabriella TAYLOR (GBR) 240 v. (Q) Nagi HANATANI (JPN) 512 (CH 507, Oct. 2017)
GB were 1-1 against Hanatani in 2017, Harriet lost in Makinohara (Carpet), Katy D won in Pune (Hard)

In doubles, Katy D is playing with Brit-that-got-away, Naiktha Bains.

Yep. Back travel from Oz and acclimatistion takes up a week of that, and with the injury caution, and the fact that she's played three consecutive weeks anyway, allow a few extra days, and if it's QWC, then it would still be a sensible timeframe.

To be clear, I have no information either way, it's just a 'spidey-sense' informed punt itn the dark.

Sorry to rain on people's parade but I rather think Laura is injured (hip) rather than jetting off to IW.

Does seem the more prosaic and likely reason even if the injury is relatively not too bad. Be great for Laura if otherwise but I'm not sure anyway that she comes that high in such WC thoughts these days.
