Even apart from the three gifts, a good TB from Jo, 7-6(2)

Pav can plateau at any time though, so no room for complacency

From the TB on, Pav, troubled by a niggle, has been woeful - a UE machine.
Jo is hitting lots of winners against an immobile opponent, and just needs to keep concentrating, and that should be enough.

Hard to take too much from it given the way Pav dissolved away, but all progress and points are welcome at the moment.
7-6(2) 6-2

Kasatkina next, who is has started hitting form after the filip of her run in St. Petersburg. Just the sort of pesky, gnawing, nagging, mosquito-like opponent that Jo probably won't enjoy.

Faced down 3 BP so far, not yeat made any, but Jo is an error machine today really cheap UE putting no pressure on Dasha, and creating it for herself.
Needs to sharpen everything up, or the break will surely happen against her, *2-3
