Week 7 - ITF ($25K) - Surprise, AZ, USA (hard)

Katie had two top 150 wins in 2017, this was her first in 2018.
In 2017, Katie only had one win against a higher ranked player than today. That was her career high win WR106 (Kovinic, USO Q)
Super result, and emphatic, too.

She served it out to love in the end

That's 5 seeds taken out by the 4 unseeded Brits in 25Ks already this week, after Gabi dispatched 3 on her own last week!

QFs are scheduled for later today, so good to get it over in two sets.

I'm ~95% certain that's Katie's second best ever rankings win.

What I'm more impressed about is that all the girls seem to be trying to outdo each other and moving up the rankings.
Gabi starting the ball rolling and everyone else is following suit.

Bouzkova or Min next and that could be going long.

One set all after 1 hour 28. The QF will be the second match of the afternoon, the first is not before 14:35 or 14:50, so unlikely to be on court until the small hours GMT

Big comeback from Bouzkova from 2-5 down in the final set to take it 7-6(4) and set up the QF against Katie B. 2 hours 38 mins, so much less rest than Katie.

Not before 17:30 local, 00:30 GMT.
And it may well start then, as in the proceeding match Wickmayer has just bagelled Boserup in 28 mins

Make that a 50 minute double-bagel. Half an hour to spare as well.

I was thinking that was quite a long double bagel. Points were 57-26 ( 33-17 first set ) though Boserup didn't have a BP.

Katie is 3-5* down in the 1st set, so Bouzkova is serving for it.
