Not sure if anyone knows but just judging from the results, is the surface at Shrewsbury quicker than the previous two weeks in these Futures events?

No - the players were saying it was slightly on the slow side.

 Interesting, thanks Paulisi

As promised, a bit of feedback from yesterday.
Jack FH v De Loore was a fantastic match of the highest standard. It was serve and volleyer v baseliner and the serve and volleyer came out on top. Jack has a big serve and he hardly missed a volley. He is one to watch out for going forward and no suprise he beat Marcus today.
For those who are not aware, Jack has finished US college and is going pro, so that first point was very important for him. I understand he is playing 3 weeks in Portugal and then will follow his coach back to USA and Mexico for a few events.
Marcus was entertaining, but erratic. The serve was all over the place and as usual tried to play difficult shots instead of the simple shot. Boswell fell apart in the third set and the amusing part of the match was when he complained at the Hoyt fan club for making too much noise, who was playing on the end court. The Hoyt club were admonished and told to quiet down.
George Houghton looks a very good player. He is at Loughborough University and will be one to watch.
Lloyd and Jonny was a really tight first set. Both playing long rallies and nothing between them, but Lloyd got on top in the second and ran away with the match.
James Ward won easily. his backhand was outstanding, but the rest of the game was a bit rusty. I didn't think he moved well.Another interesting incident as James was serving for the match, his opponent refused to continue due to music from the gym. It was eventually turned off and James served it out.
Didn't see much of the other matches, other than the end of Alexis's match, when he nearly threw it away, but turned up for the tie break.

The doubles was highly competitive, but I wasn't that impressed with the top seeds.

Heard a rumour that Marcus had a new sponsor that would allow him to keep playing the tour, although he looks nowhere near as fit and sharp as he should be.

Ta, paulisi.

Especially re Jack and going pro which was the thing I was really interested in. Nice to know we have another promising college boy giving it a go. (UK college boy, George H, is welcome to join him!).

The main draw is wide open. Most had Sisjling, Deloore or Ward as favourite. I wouldn't write off Jack....

In the doubles, Scott and Marcus are in the semis. The other Brits are in tight matches.

Evan F was always going to kick James Ward into touch.

Would be great if Jack could continue his run.....he must have a very decent chance against Raisma who's got a normal young players result sheet, with a bit of everything on it....

Great run for Jack FH continues - the teenager was a top junior (got to 12) so has some pedigree.

Shame for Evan Hoyt. Loses in two sets against Reboul.

Well done to the Shrewsbury club for providing an excellent twitter feed, complete with video clips.

And, of course:

"This is what Futures Tennis should be all about @BritishTennis Nearly 100 schoolchildren playing tennis @shrewsbury_club before watching the Quarter Finals of the Pro Series & having Q&A with a coach #gohitit #GrowTheGame #lovetennis at The Shrewsbury Club"

So unranked, unseeded, and practically unknown, Jack Findel Hawkins is the last Brit standing at the 25k .....

Shame for Ed.
