Week 7 - Great Britain F3 ($25,000) - Shrewsbury (indoor hard)

I was there again today, but that is it for the week.
FYI James - courts 1,2 & 4 are fine to view. Court 3 is a bit distant.

Big highlight was Jack FH's match which was an absolute belter. I'm not sure I've seen a better match for sometime. Jack is some talent.
Great day for the Brits and even the doubles matches were a very high standard.

i'll post a full report tomorrow evening.

Sijsling vs Nielsen in doubles was a battle between a Grand Slam finalist and a Grand Slam champion. Not often you get that in a first round futures!

Not sure if anyone knows but just judging from the results, is the surface at Shrewsbury quicker than the previous two weeks in these Futures events?

The French youngster with the British tennis coach dad, Evan Furness, continues to impress.

Fabien Reboul will doubtless inherit his dad and uncle's tennis empire (club and coaching school) but clocking up points will do him some good too.

Great to see Evan Hoyt back in good form - shame it had to be at Billy's expense. Lloyd, hopefully, is injury free now too.

Marcus v Jack F-H is going the distance - one tie-break each.

Jack F-H and Marcus enter a third set without a break of serve so far.

Scores, Jack first, 6-7(7) 7-6(2)

Jack has had the only BPs so far, 3 in one game in the second set. Marcus has won a total of just 13 return points as against 30 by Jack.

Jack got the first break of the match, to 30, consolidated with a love service game, and leads 3-0* in the final set.

Well done to Jack.

Great serving stats / poor Marcus return stats, winning 81% (72/89) serve points. He had 12 aces in total to Marcus's 8, good but probably not quite John Isner.

Yes, great couple of weeks for Jack.

You'd have to expect Jack to win over Marcus in the stamina over three sets stakes.

Is he trying the tour full time, does anyone know?

He know gets the Finnish teenager, ex JWR 12.

No - the players were saying it was slightly on the slow side.
