There have been a lot of excellent results today, but with all due respect to the other Brits (none more so than Jack F-H), the result that gives me the most pleasure has to be the return to action of James Ward. Just so good to see him back on court and competing.
Huge congrats to Jack F-H. What with his doubles success in the past few weeks, and some decent singles results, this is confirmation that the man and his tennis are in a great place.
To our half-Brit, Evan Furness, big congrats as well in taking out the second seed. Again, he's been really close to some excellent wins recently and this is his best that I've seen.
(And to Fabien Reboul whom I've known well since he was an absolute tiddler - had to supervise him once as a 7 year-old, tearing around like a maniac - very pleased for him - not to mention that the three results made my 50p betting account a lot nicer).
Evan Hoyt and Marcus Willis' results are obviously great to see too, Evan's more expected than Marcus'. And lovely follow-up result for Alexis.
Decent scores from Luke J and George H, against good opposition, too.
And big smiles for James Ward
With three guaranteed QFs, and Dino in with a decent shot, and Alexis, why not, it's so good to see that our lads had decided to wait till the 25k to decide to peak.
Anyone been to Shrewsbury this week, and can comment on the viewing from the balcony? I'm considering going tomorrow, and as mentioned earlier in the thread the courtside seating won't be made available until Thursday.
4 courts being used tomorrow and 4 of the 5 singles matches involving Brits kick off proceedings at 11.30 am, so anyone there to concentrate on the Brits ( most I imagine ) will have to divide their attention somewhat.
Hmm, when I saw all these British singles matches on together I then expected to see more logical connection to these with doubles matches than I do.
